Our Rating for ASPCA Pet Health Insurance

We gave ASPCA the superlative “Best for New Pet Owners.”

The company primarily lost points for limited customer service and lower maximum annual coverage limits.

We found it to be an ideal choice for new pet owners since its website and mobile app feature a breadth of resources, including helpful articles about various breeds and their common conditions and a local vet finder.

Here are a few items that aren’t included with either the Complete Coverage Plan or the Accident-Only Plan:

  • Aesthetic or cosmetic procedures

How Do Customers View ASPCA Pet Insurance?

ASPCA Pet Health Insurance doesn’t have a profile with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), but its associated parent company, Crum & Forster Pet Insurance Group, has accreditation and A+ rating. Because there were only a few customer reviews on the BBB, we looked to other sites like Yelp and Trustpilot to learn more about customer satisfaction.

We found that some people are happy with the fast claims process and customer service, while others complained about denied claims and had a hard time contacting a representative.

“ASPCA has good selections for [coverage] that will fit you and your pet’s particular needs. Claims through the app went easy and fast. This is my first time putting in a claim. So far I’m happy with the process and the product.”

Leonard A.

“I have been trying to have a claim paid for over [three] months now. They keep requesting the same information that has already been provided multiple times. The customer service [representative] assured me every time that they have everything they need. Then I receive an email asking for what has already been provided. They reimbursed me for all the small claims, but after my dog had surgery, they seem to refuse to process this claim. I don’t know what’s going on, but I would tread cautiously.”

Jason J.

Is ASPCA Pet Insurance Worth it?

In addition to being a top company for new pet owners, ASPCA Pet Health Insurance includes a few treatments and procedures that some other providers don’t cover, such as exam fees and microchipping.

However, its lower maximum annual limit of $10,000 and hard-to-reach customer service make it less favorable when compared to other top providers like Lemonade or Healthy Paws, which both feature high coverage caps and a live customer service chat.
