Warped railing posts on my deck

I installed 4x4 pressure treated posts on my flat roof deck for railing posts about 10 years ago. The vinyl covers and railing have not been strong enough to keep the posts straight. The have twisted quite a bit. I would like to replace the posts but I cannot get under the deck to replace them properly.

I was thinking about cutting them flush to the deck. Then maybe drill a hole in the floor (cut) part of the old post. Then drill a hole in a new (straight) 4x4. Then use a steel pole like a dowel to connect the two. I cant really think of a way to secure the new top part to the flooring of the deck. I have finished space under the deck so I need it to be waterproof.

Another thought was to cut it about 6in off the deck. then do a lap joint and bolt the new to the old...hopefully getting it to be straight.

Are there any other suggestions?

Is my idea goofy?

Thanks for any advice.

Here is a pic of my sad looking deck:
