How to install pavers around deck posts
qhwang

I'm installing pavers under the deck, which has 5.5x5.5 wood posts running into dirt. Should paver blocks contact posts or keep enough gaps? I worry about the moisture and rot of the posts. I guess if the blocks contact the posts, the moisture will be trapped, so rot goes quicker and earlier. If the gap is wide enough, the bottom of posts will be drier. What if I let blocks contact posts and seal the seams? I'm not sure which one is the best solution. Please give me some advice and explanation.  Thanks!

You are worried about the moisture and rot of the posts, but yet you burried them in the dirt. And I bet there is no gravel at the bottom of the hole, nor is there any tar based material on the posts themselves.

You are wasting your time worrying about that. You will have bigger issues soon, but not properly taking care to treat the posts that are now underground. You may do what ever you wish above ground, it will not matter at this point.

The deck was build by the contrator hired by the previous owner. I know it's not very good to burry the posts into ground, however probably I'm not living in the south, the most decks I see around are build in that way.
