Counter heights?
Frank O

We have an 104-year-old California bungalow with a kitchen that likely was remodeled in the 1960s or 1970s. While shopping for a dishwasher some years back, we noticed that the vertical cutout for the dishwasher under the counter is only 33-1/2". Out of a dozen or so dishwashers at the local store, only one or two are this short. Most are 33-7/8" and above. We need a new dishwasher again, and we're also thinking of having some general work done on the kitchen, including a new countertop. Is there a standard height for countertops, and for dishwasher cutouts?

I did a search and found this: http://homeimprovementinsights.com/the-standard-size-of-the-kitchen-cabinet-depth/

This gives some standard dimensions for kitchen cabinets etc. 34 1/2 inches is the standard height for a lower cabinet.

One thing that can change the height for your dishwasher is flooring under the dishwasher area. If layers of floor have been added, this will reduce your space.

Remember - all these measurements are AFF - above the finished floor height - from the finished floor height up to the bottom of the counter

Also, dish washers have adjustable legs.

Did you consider getting build in dishwasher, then you can adjust cabinet's heights to fit the rest. If you're considering getting the taller one then it's like guys above said: they usually have adjustable legs.
