Porch - Monolithic Pour vs Block

I need to replace my front porch because it is starting to crumble - especially at the front corners where 6x6 wood beams sit to support a porch roof. The porch is roughly 9'x5' and about 2' above ground. It currently has a block base with a 4" concrete slab top. The 6x6 beams are at the corner edges, they do not sit directly over the block. Three separate estimates suggest that the porch be expanded by about 6" to provide better support to the 6x6 beams.

The contractor that I am going with said that I can either go with a 'monolithic' pour, or use block and slab (like it is today). Other than cost, what are the pros/cons between the two types of porches?

Thanks in advance for any insight.
