Basement lighting between exposed joists

Hi all,
I have a basement that is 6-6. Rightnow it has storage shelves and a workbench. I'd like use part of it for a play room for my kids. Obviously it isn't "living space" due to the ceiling height, but they are 2 and 3 and I doubt it wil be an issue for them. To get to the point. I was wondering what the best way to light the space would be. I was originally planning on recessed fixtures between exposed joists. There is a minimum of 9 1/2 inches from the bottom of the subfloor to the bottom of the joist. So what do you all recommend?

Thanks
Chris

id say you answered your own question! id put recessed lights if your worried about head clearance

I just didn't know since the whole housing would be exposed if there was any particular type recommended or any other ideas.

Thanks
