Water Pressure Fluctuation

When I turn on any fixture the water pressure is normal for a few seconds then slows to a drip for about five seconds and then the pressure returns to normal for the remainder of use. What are the common reasons for this occurrence? Thanks.

Re: Water Pressure Fluctuation

I was wondering if you have city water or a private well? I will assume that you have a well as it sounds like you are having a problem with your pressure switch that controls your well pump. From what you describe it sounds like when you turn the water on your draining all the pressure from the pressure tank before your well pump kicks on. There should be a pressure switch located near the pressure tank that controls when your well pump turns on and off. I believe the switch may need to be replaced or there might be an adjustment on the switch.
