Shower cartridge

I need to replace the cartridge in my shower valve. It is an Adia which I believe was a line of Dornbracht valves. It is a single handle model and probable at least 20 years old. The knob is not screwed on but simply pulls off. It appears that the end of the cartridge is plastic with teeth that mesh with the knob. I see no way to remove the plastic piece. I don't see how to pull the cartridge without damaging the plastic piece. I've look ****** and at Dornbracht's web site to no avial. Any ideas?

Re: Shower cartridge

Replacing the whole thing is sometimes the cheapest solution. And you have a new faucet.
Why? if you try to fix a 20 year old faucet, you have problems finding parts and you still have an outdated faucet, probably with mineral stains, rust build up and corrosion.
Make sense?

Re: Shower cartridge

Total replacement makes sense. However, I have no rear access and this is a fiberglass corner shower unit. This is my typical problem. Trying to solve what should be a simple task cascades into a major major work.

Get a plumber or two to look at your problem with estimates.
Good luck.
