Q&A

Q: Last year I purchased a wonderful fiberglass door, but my husband painted it with old paint and the result is blotchy and looks terrible. How can we remove the paint and then repaint the door so it looks the way it should?

—Ruth Ficker, Jerseyville, IlL.

Tips

Prevent interior doors from being blown shut under the slightest breeze by screwing a magnetic door catch to the baseboard directly behind the door. Mount the steel plate that comes with the catch to the back of the door; be sure to align the plate with the magnetic catch.
