TOH Rating: 6.7/10

Axiom Home Warranty was founded in 2015, which is relatively late compared to the top home warranty providers within the industry, some of which have been in business for nearly 50 years. While we like aspects of Axiom Home Warranty, we recommend Liberty Home Guard as our top home warranty for its outstanding customer service and extensive plan add-on options. Axiom Home Warranty is only available to homeowners who reside in California and Nevada.

In this review, we discuss Axiom Home Warranty plans, coverage, and pricing and help you determine whether this is the right home warranty company for you.

How Did We Rate Axiom Home Warranty?

After our review of Axiom Home Warranty, we rated it a 6.7 out of 10. It’s only available in 2 states nationwide, hardly has 5 years of industry experience, and has a “F” rating from the BBB due to complaints of unprofessionalism, poor communication, and service delays.

Pros and Cons of Axiom Home Warranty

Isn’t clear with coverage caps or service fee amounts

What Are the Plans, Coverage, and Pricing of Axiom Home Warranty?

Axiom Home Warranty offers three coverage plans: Axiom Essentials, Axiom Preferred, and Axiom Signature. The covered items in each plan may vary based on your location and property type.

The Axiom Essentials plan is the base coverage package that protects 22 to 23 systems and appliances (the final number is based on whether you live in Nevada or California). The Axiom Preferred plan extends the protection under the base plan to cover air conditioning, AxiomTouch, and an Eco Upgrade. The Axiom Signature plan is the company’s most comprehensive coverage option that stretches coverage to include your kitchen refrigerator, clothes washer, and clothes dryer.

Here’s an Axiom Home Warranty plan overview for homeowners who live in California. Note: Axiom Home Warranty coverage in Nevada is slightly different.

How Are Axiom Home Warranty Reviews?

Axiom Home Warranty is not a Better Business Bureau (BBB)-accredited business and has an F rating due to 19 filed complaints and for failing to respond to 14 complaints.

While the majority of customer reviews note a lack of professionalism, less than ideal communication practices, and delays in servicing emergency claims, there are some customers who have had a positive experience.

Here are a few BBB reviews below:

Thank goodness for Axiom, whom we have a warranty with. They sent out a repair tech when my fridge stopped cooling. He came out on time, was able to fix the fridge, and cleaned up nicely when he was finished. I really appreciate Axiom’s warranty and service.” — Margaret F. on 6/20/2019

“This business is very unprofessional and needs to be shut down. They do not honor your contract and do not call back or conduct business in a professional matter. Crooks smh.” — Drake P. on 11/26/2019

How Do You Make a Claim with Axiom Home Warranty?

When a covered system or appliance stops working, you can file a claim with Axiom Home Warranty through its mobile app or through your online account. Axiom will then connect you with a pre-screened service provider to help diagnose the issue. Axiom only works with contractors who have applicable state and trade licenses, general liability and workers compensation insurance, and a history of outstanding customer satisfaction.

After a contractor is dispatched to your house, the home warranty company will charge you a service call fee that goes directly to the independent contractor and covers the inspection, diagnosis, and repair costs. If the item can’t be repaired, the contractor will replace the item. Once the work is complete, the contractor will be reimbursed for all the work by the company.

Is Axiom Home Warranty Worth it?

We rate Axiom Home Warranty a 6.7/10. Though Axiom Home Warranty offers decent coverage, a low starting service fee, and a convenient mobile app, it’s available in only two states, isn’t transparent with service fee costs, and doesn’t have a sample contract for potential customers to review.

Preferred Provider: American Home Shield

As a home warranty alternative, we recommend American Home Shield as the best overall home warranty provider. American Home Shield has been in the business since 1971 and services all states except for Alaska.

AHS offers homeowners extensive coverage and customizability across its three plans. ShieldSilver™ covers major household systems, including heating, electrical, and plumbing. ShieldGold™ provides coverage all the systems in ShieldSilver while adding kitchen and laundry appliances to the plan.

American Home Shield’s most popular package is ShieldPlatinum™, which offers coverage for 23 systems and appliances alongside additional benefits like coverage boosts and roof leak coverage. We have found ShieldPlatinum’s coverage to be among the most comprehensive in the home warranty industry, and it comes at a reasonable price.

Homeowners also get the flexibility to choose from three service fee options: $75, $100 or $125. The higher the service fee, the lower your monthly premium will be.
