Question about a tool in Episode #1217 of Season 12 of ATOH

Hello all,

In Episode #1217 of Season 12 of ask this old house, Electrician John Barros uses an attachment to screw in a screw at a right angle. I think this would be an excellent Christmas gift, but cannot find any information on it. Does anyone know what the attachment is called?

Google "right angle attachment".

You can purchase the attachment for screw guns.
If you don't buy the cheap one they work very well.
Most manufactors of screw guns will have them.

I don't know what you're looking for, as I did not see the show, however, I doubt there is a pneumatic attachment for a screwdriver or drill. What does exist are simple cable style extensions that flex, these work great for driving a screw, but they self destruct when you try to remove a screw. The reason for this is that cables are twisted in one direction, spin them in this direction and the twist gets tighter, works great! Unfortunately, when you spin a cable in the opposite direction of twist, they unravel.

What you saw may have been a gear driven directional tool, this would be the way to go if you can find such a beast.

There are right angle drills and there are also right angle drill attachments that fit onto a regular drill. I guess a stand alone drill could be pneumatic, but why bother if you don't use pneumatic tools in general. Except for nail guns, that's something I don't see on job sites.

We use the right angle attachment for the screw gun it is gear driven reversible and the angle is adjustable.
Uses a phillips # 1 # 2 & # 3 bit works ok for framing screws don't about how it would work for screws larger than 1/8 inch

My most rarely used tool is a right-angle cordless drill. It's also my handiest tool when I actually need it. I don't do a lot of plumbing or electrical right now so it's good enough and I wouldn't be without it. All of the 'attachments' I've seen looked cheaply made but I tyhink I recall seeing Tom use one on his Festool drill so I know good ones are made, I just ain't seen one in person yet.
