painting metal flashing?

I love my house, but I hate, hate, hate the blue colour that's plastered all over the exterior (see below). All of the eaves and drainspouts are blue as well as the strip of flashing that goes down both sides of the house (you can see it at the corners of the garage).

So I have a few questions for you all...

First, any colour suggestions? I've come up with a few ideas but then renege on them thinking they'll make my house look like it has racing stripes.

Second, is it possible to even paint the metal flashing or are we best to just replace it? I'm thinking if we paint over it it will just peel in a year and we'll have to do it over again.

Thanks for your help!

Re: painting metal flashing?

You can paint the metal flashing. I've had good luck cleaning the metal good, and and prime with a acrylic latex primer and top coat. Kilz2 works good for me as a primer for that.
