Paint first or stain first

My husband and I are stripping all the wood in our home... But before we get too far I was wondering after we prep everything (walls and wood trim) how should we go about finishing things. Should we prime the walls and ceiling, paint the ceiling then do the staining then paint the walls? Or do the staining last? some suggestion would be helpful... Thanks

I would stain and seal the woodwork first, that way any spill, drip, slop, or over painting will clean up without leaving a residue or "watermark".
