no expansion gap on wood floor in N.E.

New flooring wa installed in the summer 2 years ago. We took off basboards had ac running and dehu in crawlspace that comes on automatically. Installer didnt leave any expansion gap on many walls. I mean zero, touching the walls. We believed him when he said it would be a problem but of course buckling has occurred. My husband tried trimming the floor himself but it was a lot of work and he scratched the floor in process. He now has cut the drywall which was a lot easier that cutting wood to give us a good expansion joint. Now we are wondering if we are letting in even more humidity on the exterior walls? Has anyone ever done this? Issues?
Thank you
floors are hardwood/nailed/5inch

The weather isn't consistent enough to eliminate gaps as you have found. Cut the drywall or cut the hardwoods (i'd use a jamb saw or tow kick saw) then cover with quarter round,

Then dope slap the flooring guy. REAL HARD !

Watch this video to see how little expansion causes great tenting.
