Installing GFCI

I have been told you can only have one GFCI on a circuit, is that true? In older homes, most kitchen outlets are on one circuit. How do you remedy this?

TThe GFCI is installed to replace the first outlet in the string and will provide GFCI protection for all outlets that follow. If you don't know which is the firat out let you could install a GFCI breaker for the Kitchen circuit instaed of a GFCI outlet.

To add to the previous reply and to the original post ... only one GFCI outlet can be installed on a circuit.

To correct myself ... only one GFCI oulet should be installed on a circuit.

If there are two on the same circuit and one trips it could cause confusion as to which one is at fault.
