Cleaning Paint Brushes

I have found that soaking caked-on brushes, whether it be oil or water-based, can be brought back to new with a solution of a 50-50 mixture of warm water and Lestoil (let the brush soak overnight):). I have done this numerous times and have always been surprised what a great job it does.

I'll have to give it a try. I'm always leaving a brush in paint thinner for a day that turns into 3 weeks or longer.

And I'll bet you're the only one that does that Ed.:D

I'll have to try the 50/50 Lestoil and see if it works.

Just as a side note, if you wet your latex brush with water or your oil brush with mineral spirits before you start using it you'll find the the paint doesn't wick up the bristles to the ferrule.
