buckling parquet floor

My house is about 150 years old. Last fall we installed a parquet floor in the kitchen, which is over a crawl space in a dirt floor basement. Last week, July 31, 2007, the floor started rising in the middle of the floor, two rows are buckling and rising, like a mountain range. Other areas of the floor seem loose also. We let the flooring aclimate to the temperature in the house and used the prescribed adhesive. We think the humidity is making the floor buckle. We installed it over 1/2" paintable plywood which had been painted for 1 year. What happened and how can we fix it? Diane
