Terminix Plans and Services
Terminix offers multiple plans, which differ based on region and local branch availability. The general Pest Control Plan is offered nationwide and includes quarterly services. For general pest control pricing, call your local Terminix branch. In addition to its general Pest Control Plan, Terminix offers either a monthly or one-time mosquito service, and a monthly or one-time tick service.
Pest Control Plan
The general Pest Control Plan includes one comprehensive interior and exterior inspection and treatment, seasonal follow-up exterior treatments (scheduled quarterly or bi-monthly), trained and qualified technicians, and the Nix Pest Guarantee™.
According to Terminix, “the Nix Pest Guarantee means you can relax knowing we’ll nix your pest problem, and keep it nixed. And if pests come back between treatments, so will we—at no additional cost to you.”
The general Pest Control Plan protects customers from 13 common household pests: House ants, cockroaches, non-dangerous spiders, mice, rats, scorpions, clothes moths, silverfish, centipedes, earwigs, crickets, millipedes, and paper wasps
Quick Guard® Mosquito Service
This monthly service uses an active ingredient that starts eliminating mosquitoes immediately. After an initial inspection, a technician will create a customized treatment plan based on areas where mosquitoes may live and breed. One treatment will create a protection zone that lasts for weeks, thanks to a special polymer that shields the active ingredient from water and weather. The One-Time Mosquito Service includes just one application of the mosquito defense.
Tick Defend System®
This service’s four-step approach targets common species of ticks, using a dual-action treatment of liquid and granules that create a barrier against the pests. The treatments start eliminating ticks immediately. The One-Time Tick Defend System involves just one tick treatment.
Terminix aims to stop termite infestations before they start with its Terminix OnGuard® Termite Protection System. This system is broken down into a series of three steps:
- Terminix technicians install built-in stations 10 to 15 feet apart in the soil around your home to create a zone of protection.
- Termites feed on the bait and return to their colony with it, eliminating the remaining population.
- Your expert technician conducts annual inspections to monitor the stations for signs of termite activity.
Terminix customizes you termite control plan based on your home’s exact needs, and the technician puts together the plan during inspection. It also includes the Nix & Fix Termite Guarantee™ for qualified homes.
Bed Bug Removal
Terminix provides customized bed bug treatments to eliminate all bed bugs where they live and breed. First, a Terminix technician will perform a free, thorough inspection of your home, searching beds, furniture, and linens. Next, the technician will remove visible bed bugs and treat the area to eradicate any hidden bed bugs and eggs. Terminix uses a variety of methods, which may include steam, encasements, and monitoring devices.
Terminix provides services in 45 states, excluding Alaska, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Vermont.
Terminix prices typically range from $550 to $700 annually for a 2,000-square-foot home. Mosquito services start at roughly $60 per month, and tick services start at around $80 per month. The exact cost of your Terminix treatment will depend on several factors.
- Infestation—If you have a full-blown infestation, it may cost more to treat.
- Type of pests—Certain pests cost more to eliminate than others.
- Size of your home—A larger home may cost more to treat.
- Type of treatment—Some extensive treatments cost more than less-involved ones.
- Number of treatments—Issues that require follow-up treatments may cost more.
Before providing you with a quote for termite or bed bug treatment, Terminix will have to perform a free home inspection to determine pricing.
What To Expect with Terminix
When you schedule a free inspection with Terminix, a representative will ask for the following information:
- Phone number
- ZIP code
- Whether or not you’re a homeowner
- Type of home
- Size of home
- Payment type
- Credit or debit card number and expiration date
The representative will then explain the inspection process. With Terminix, an inspection takes about 30 minutes to an hour and a company technician will arrive within a two- to three-hour window of your inspection appointment. Because of this, we recommend blocking off part of your day to wait for the technician to perform the inspection.
During a termite inspection, specifically, a technician will look for signs of termite activity or an infestation, potential termite access points, and conditions that may lead to future termite infestations in your home. They may check your garage walls, underneath the house, in your attic, and under your sinks.
After the inspection is complete, the technician will provide an agreement for you to sign. Depending on your pest issue, the pest service offered by Terminix will likely be an annual program that includes to break up the life cycle of the pest you’re dealing with.
Terminix is not accredited with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), but it has a B- rating with the organization. However, even the best pest control companies have negative reviews online. Based on our analysis of more than 100 customer reviews, we found that many mention being satisfied with successful pest control treatments, while some complain about scheduling difficulties with their local office.
Here are a few examples of Terminix reviews from the BBB:
“Excellent service, wonderful service policies. We’ve had them take care of our desert home needs for 15 years and never regretted the decision. Best in the business. Our technician, Kevin, is like family. HE is the best in the business!” — Debra U.
“The ease it was to set up an appointment for my mom was amazing. I wasn’t going to be able to be on site and they told me how much upfront it would cost. They inspected and didn’t find anything. They called me right back and told me. I appreciate their honesty and professionalism.” — Tom T.
“I have/had a german roach problem. [My Terminix exterminator] knew how they probably got into my home, knew where the nests were, and knew where they moved after he attacked their homes. I can gratefully say that there is an amazing difference so far and I feel its only going to get better. ” — Laura J.
“I’ve use Terminix for many years. Kept giving them the benefit of the doubt but, scheduling was horrible. I asked them to give a heads up upon arrival because I have 3 large dogs. But they never did and showed up on days not scheduled , went outside on my porch only to be scared to find the tech in back” — Janice S.
We also received this feedback from two of our readers:
“Terminix service varies based on the local office, and our local office is terrible. Never call back, managers not returning calls, agents not returning calls, service agents who don’t care.” — Dorian S.
“I spent over $1,300 on Terminix’s “brown recluse service.” They offered a ~10% refund as they clearly do not know how to control brown recluse spiders. It is horrible, please avoid leveraging Terminix if you have a brown recluse spider issue.” — Marcus O.
