Author Icon Written by Brenda Woods Updated 04/18/2024

Founded in 1860, Rose Pest Solutions is the oldest pest control company in the nation. This family-owned and operated business has two franchises headquartered in Troy, Michigan, and Chicago, Illinois. Rose provides residential and commercial pest control services in several states in the Midwest. Each franchise is owned by different families that purchased them from Daniel Rose. Although they share the same name and logo, they each operate slightly differently.

We compared some of the nation’s best pest management companies to give you our recommendation for the top pest control providers. Read our Rose Pest Solutions review, then see how the company compares to our top recommendations: Orkin, Terminix, and Aptive.

ProsCons

Rose Pest Solutions Services

Rose Pest Solutions offers residential pest control and uses Integrated Pest Management (IPM) to treat pest infestations. These practices emphasize prevention and treatment methods to reduce the amount of product being used in and around your home.

For residential services for general pest control management, each franchise offers slightly different plans. Rose Chicago provides the Healthy Home Maintenance Plan, which guarantees to cover common pests such as cockroaches, ants, earwigs, rodents, and more, excluding termites, fleas, bed bugs, and mosquitoes.

With this plan, technicians will visit four times per year for regular treatments. They can also return for free in between these quarterly treatments if problems arise.

Rose Detroit offers a similar residential pest control plan that’s guaranteed to keep your home pest free. It’s called the Home Pest Control Service Program. This program comes with pre-scheduled interior and exterior services, inspections of accessible areas, a written report of the technician’s findings and recommendations, and preventative services all around the home.

You can also purchase the following specialty pest control programs from the Rose Pest Solutions franchise location that services your area for protection against termites or bed bugs:

  • Termite Control Program—This plan utilizes Sentricon and Termidor, which are some of the latest treatments in termite management.
  • Bed Bug Services—This service uses top-performing methods to rid your rooms of pesky bed bugs. While the Rose Detroit location uniquely uses canines for treatment, Rose Chicago does not. Rose Chicago uses the Proactive Bed Bug Solution, which lasts up to three months and is combinable with your general pest control coverage.

How to Request an Inspection and Start Service

Free quotes for Rose Pest Solutions services can be obtained over the phone or via email. When submitting a request for a home inspection online, include details about your pest problem and the square footage of your home. A customer service agent will follow up with you to schedule a visit, which is often within 24 hours of submitting the form.

During the home inspection, a Rose Pest Solutions technician will evaluate your home to discover what’s causing the pest problem. Then, they’ll recommend preventive practices to work alongside their treatment chemicals.

Here are a few Rose Pest Solutions reviews from Yelp and Google:

“We were experiencing a serious problem with moths that were ruining our favorite sweaters and other woolens. The first exterminating company visited three times and still could not control the problem. Rose identified the source and solved the problem…[I] would highly recommend!” — Jennifer K. via Yelp

“I spent 15 minutes back and forth between answering questions and being put on hold at least five times. Just to be told no one could come out for at least 10 days…The customer service and response time is horrible!” — Austin Y. via Google

We gave Rose Pest Solutions a 92/100 for its general pest program, one-year guarantee, and integrated pest management approach. One drawback of the company is that it only services six states.

Our Verdict

Rose Pest Solutions may be a good option if you’re looking for integrated pest management in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, or Wisconsin. However, if you don’t live in those states or want more comprehensive pest control services, we recommend trusted providers like Orkin, Terminix, and Aptive.

Our Rating Methodology

We back up our pest control recommendations with a detailed rating methodology that we use to objectively score each provider. We review pest control plans, navigate the provider website, speak with customer service representatives by phone and online chat (if available), request quotes, and analyze customer reviews for each provider. We then score the provider against our review standards for plans and services, reputation and customer responses, customer service offerings, workmanship guarantees, financing, and availability to arrive at a final score on a 5-point rating scale.
