After pulling 0ne part the duct down to remove the wet duct wrap insulation I found rust spots about the size of my hand on the outside. Will a couple of coats rust proofing paint fix it, or just replace the galvanized duct.
You can sand the rust down to the metal till clean and then paint it. It's just that doing all this work in the attic (assuming that the duct is in there) is pretty unpleasant, you know, dust, insulation, lack of space to move, etc.
I certainly would prefer to replace it with a new duct, under these conditions,
Thanks DJ, I'm under the house not in the attic. Still not a great place to work. I will replace it.
