How to overseed lawn correctly

My lawn has been diagnosed with severe damage done by the Crane fly and its offspring. Living here in the Northwest I assumed my lawn was dying due to lack of sun and/or too much water. About 1/4 of the 10k square feet of lawn is ruined and will need reseeding. It was suggested that the entire lawn be reseeded after it is sprayed to kill off the under-surface worm-like bugs eating the turf as well as lingering moss growth. All that being said, I need to prep the turf, both where there is no lawn any longer and where other areas will need attention. The lawn is in its 4th season and I was told to seed with a colonial bent seed, and a rye to be used as a "nurse" seed for the bent grass. Please help me in prepping the lawn correctly for new overseeding this spring. Thanks!
