Cedar shingle on exterior wall over foam insulation

We plan to install cedar shingles over the exterior walls of our 1970 built plywood sided home.
We'd like to install 1/2" rigid foam insulation under the shingles.
Nails will be long enough to fully penetrate the existing siding (5/8" + 1/2" + shingle thickness = 1.5' approx).

Any problems with this plan?

thanks,

Keith
