Kevin O’Connor meets Zack Dettmore outside where he explains the homeowners’ choice of using composite wood siding for two purposes: to distinguish the addition from the original portion of the house and to have a lower maintenance siding.
Zack and Kevin join siding contractor Jose Gabriel in completing the remainder of the composite at the side door entrance.
Later, sound engineer Mike DiSalvo explains the three principles of sound proofing a room and the process of implementing them in the kitchen.
Up in Maine, Zack meets with Josh Henry at his factory to learn how they repurpose wood to create wood fiber insulation.
Back at the house, Kevin joins painter Lazaros Poinditis outside to learn about the solar reflective pigment paints that allow houses to be darker in color without absorbing too much heat.
