whole house fan but no attic. Can it be done?

I have a 2 story house, single gable, no attic. My house is about 100 years old and central A/C would be nearly impossible. We have hot water baseboard radiator heat. I would love to have a whole house fan but don't know if it can be done. Any thoughts please.

If you have no attic in which to install the fan, you can install a smaller one on the gable end within the living space. When I've done installs like this, I basically create a sealed cabinet for the fan to live in. Being sealed keeps outside hot/cold outside, as well as pests. Then all you do is open the door before turning the fan on.
