Well, we've got problems

Hello ToH! I contacted you a couple years ago when we bought our house, but didn't get a response. Back then we thought this might be a fun project for your show.

We bought an old house, built in 1870, in New Hampshire. It's a big old Victorian, one of the last of its kind, in this area. It needs work--more than we thought, as it turns out.

Well since then, most of us got lead poisoned, after living here a year. My 2-year-old girl just spent a week in the hospital under chelation therapy to get the lead out of her blood. They say my 5-year-old and 3-year-old and 1-year-old are affected (me and my wife haven't been measured yet). We've had a professional abatement crew come through with emergency measures, but have just started the process of abatement--the process to make this place an actual safe place for people to live.

The State authorities have started to put funds forward to help us deal with our home. I thought maybe there could be a good conjunction of what they do and what you do, that might entice you to be interested in this project. If so, please contact me on my cell at 260-250-5788 or contact the Healthy Homes and Lead Poisoning Prevention Program of New Hampshire directly (603) 271-4507.
Thanks,
Bill

Re: Well, we've got problems

This is a DIY community forum and not a direct link to the TV show. Below is information from This Old House. i hope this helps.

How does This Old House select project houses? This Old House chooses two projects each season.
The fall project is usually located in or around our base of Boston, so that the crew can stay close to home for a significant part of the season.
The winter project is generally located in a mild climate where outdoor work may be undertaken during the winter months.
The renovations are completely funded by the homeowners and not by This Old House, though the show arranges for product discounts and donations where possible. All donated items are considered gifts and the homeowners pay taxes on them.
