Installing Fireplace Insert With Outside Air For Combustion
John

I want to install an insert in my woodburning fireplace. I would like to use outside air for combustion. Is there any way to bring the combustion air through the current chimney with a separate pipe. I cant access the firebox from an outside wall to bring in the air.

Is it a wood burning insert? If it is then no you cant. Gas or pellet you can but not wood for wood you will have to either go down through the ash dump and out in the basement or out through the fireplace wall
