Construction method Timber Frame

I am in the UK and unable to find books plans etc on a construction method I have seen often used in the States,please help. I am building a garden room,workshop/Gym. The plan is stud framed walls to sit on 2 courses of brick and DPC. This I see as the most effective damp proof method, rather than having timber in contact with the ground. Comments welcomed.
Then from exterior in sand and cement render, on metal lathe(mesh) over vapour barrier, 18mm OSB,4x2 Stud,insulation, vapour back plaster board,finish plaster. Again comments welcomed.
My main concerns are;
Damp prevention at ground level.
Does metal lathe staple direct through the vapour barrier on to OSB without any gap.
Has Tom Silva got a spare week end to spend in London.
