Wall-mount Mailboxes

The U.S. Postal Service dates to the Colonial era, but mailboxes are a relatively recent innovation. Originally, mail only circulated between post offices. Household delivery began in cities as early as 1863, but somebody had to be home since the envelopes were literally handed over. It was not until 1912 that wall-mounted mailboxes and through-the-door mail slots finally made home delivery efficient. Today, you can find mailboxes in a range of styles and sizes, from highly embellished options ideal to hang by the front door to simpler, sturdy locking boxes that can even be installed curbside on a post or a column.

Here are 13 wall-mount models that go beyond the basic box.
