We recently researched what Simonton Windows offers as part of our analysis of the best window brands in the country. We looked at warranty coverage, price, customer reviews, and more. See how we rated the window provider below.

What’s Our Take on Simonton Windows?

We like how Simonton has decades of experience as a window replacement company and a certified team of installers. We also like that it’s an ENERGY STAR partner and holds an American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) Gold Label certification. This is one of the toughest certifications to obtain in the windows industry. It signifies that the company’s products have undergone rigorous testing for durability, energy efficiency, and weather resistance.

Simonton was also named Highest in Overall Quality by Builder Magazine in 2020. We also like the convenience factor of purchasing Simonton windows. You can do so nationwide through a trusted contractor, distributor location, or retailers such as The Home Depot.

However, what we don’t like about Simonton is its low Better Business Bureau (BBB) rating, lack of accreditation, and amount of poor customer reviews. We’ll delve more into that later in the article.

How Much Do Simonton Windows Cost?

Simonton doesn’t list its window prices on its website. Most window companies don’t, so this isn’t a unique drawback. We looked at customer and online window reviews and spoke to a Home Depot associate to estimate that most of the brand’s windows fall between $200 and $1,200.* According to Simonton’s rating scale, the ClearValue series is the most affordable, and the Premium and Pro series are more expensive and architectural.

*Figures averaged from customer reviews, Home Depot, and Fixr.

What Are Customer Reviews of Simonton Windows?

We looked at what customers say about Simonton Windows on popular review sites such as the BBB and Google Reviews. We’re surprised that customer reviews are largely negative despite many of the positives we read. The company isn’t BBB-accredited and holds an F rating*.

We did find some positive reviews, but most point to poor product performance, issues with responsiveness, and failure to make repairs covered under the warranty.

Here’s a mix of what we found:

“I had replacement windows installed several years ago. One developed a stress crack. The installer and the wholesaler both told me they were out of warranty. I finally got a phone number for Simonton. They had my order number (still under warranty), shipped me a replacement sash at no charge. It took me 5 min to replace. The employee on the phone was extremely nice and helpful.” —Marian H., September 2021, on Google Reviews

“Since January 31st of this year I have been waiting to hear back about a warranty claim on a leaking window. No movement so far. After calling multiple times I finally got the case to move forward. Turns out, it will still take months before anything gets fixed, or even happens.” —Stef P., March 22, 2023, on BBB

“The seal broke in one of the windows in my three-year-old home. I filed a claim and was told to expect to hear from a representative in thirty days. Thirty days later I received another email asking me to be patient. I called customer service and was told to expect to be contacted within two weeks. Four weeks have passed and I’ve yet to be contacted. I’ve never experienced such poor customer service in the past. Very disappointing.” —Mitchell W., December 4, 2022, on BBB

“Very clean lines. They seem a lot better quality windows then the competitors product.” —Ryan S., June 2023, on Google Reviews

*BBB rating accurate as of September 2023

Where Are Simonton Windows Available?

You can purchase Simonton Windows nationwide by hiring a licensed window contractor or visiting your local Home Depot. Simonton has an exclusive contract only to sell its products at Home Depot, so you won’t find them at Lowe’s or other home improvement stores. Also, two lines, the VantagePointe 6000 and VantagePoint 6500 are only sold at Home Depot.

What Warranty Options Does Simonton Offer?

Simonton’s warranties vary by product line. Most come with a double-lifetime warranty, which extends to the product buyer and the subsequent homeowner if the house is old. Previous owners need to submit an online form transferring the warranty coverage. You can download each line’s warranty on the company’s website, but here is some important fine print we noticed browsing through different warranties:

  • Some warranties only cover certain parts or materials on the window.
  • Installation, meaning labor and workmanship, typically isn’t covered.
  • Glass breakage is only covered if the glass is double-strength.

We recommend carefully reading the warranty for the window style you’re interested in before purchasing.

How Does Simonton Windows Scheduling Work?

You can start your project by scheduling a consultation to review your needs. Simonton makes this easy on its website by offering a map of distributors, retail stores, and contractors who install Simonton products. All you have to provide is your ZIP code to get started.

Are Simonton Windows Worth It?

Simonton has several pluses, including its ENERGY STAR certification and AAMA Gold Label status. The company has remained in the window business for nearly 80 years, so it must be doing something right. We like that warranties are transferable, that it has a certified team of installers, and that you can see and purchase the windows straight from Home Depot.

We’re concerned about the provider’s low BBB score and high volume of negative customer reviews. We recommend reading customer reviews of the specific window type you want on retailer sites such as Home Depot. This will provide product-based insight. The BBB, Google Reviews, and Trustpilot can give you a better look at the company’s ongoing customer service.

If Simonton isn’t the right window company for you, we recommend looking into Renewal By Andersen, Champion Windows, and Power Home Remodeling.
