1-800-PACK-RAT vs. PODS
PODS offers many of the same services as 1-800-PACK-RAT, but the company is readily available in 46 states. PODS also offers three container sizes, but PODS’ containers feature a roll-up door, which adds a bit more room for placement. While both PODS and 1-800-PACK-RAT offer an initial 30 days of loading time, an additional 30 days with PODS costs $149 per month. This is cheaper than 1-800-PACK-RAT’s $245 additional monthly fee.
We received a quote from PODS for a 16-foot container moving from Chicago to Houston in roughly a month’s time for a total cost of $3,494.08 plus taxes. However, PODS is a pay-as-you-go service, so the payments would be broken down into $487.95 for the first delivery, $2,867.13 for transportation, and a final payment of $139 for the final pickup.
