heat deflecter??

I have a wood stove in my family room and am asking for advice on some kind of heat reflect or deflector behind the stove on the wall. It is the correct distance from the wall but the wall does get hot. Ant ideas?????

Re: heat deflecter??

Do a Google search for wood stoves , etc. I have seen metal heat deflectors used for this purpose .

Heat shields can be made from just about any non-combustible material and should be spaced a minimum 2" from the finished wall face for good air flow. Typically these are of a tile or masonry composition, though I've seen metal with heat/fire proof insulation backers as well.

It is important that you follow your local code regulations. Contact your building department for details materials, thicknesses, and set-back allowances. Contact local wood stove retailers for what types of units they are installing with their stoves. From there, you can easily build your own heat shield.
