Fire Sprinkler Insulation

I have a home with a Fire Sprinkler system in a Scissor frame roof. I have noticed a cold chill coming from the Openings around the heads. Can I seal this gap with expanding foam or is there a technical issue. I would attempt to work on this from the attic space but it is not accessible.

Re: Fire Sprinkler Insulation

I would imagine that if you are in a freeze zone you have a dry pipe system so freezing cold pipe is not an issue.

You should have no issues with sealing around the heads. But a word of warning; A few weeks ago we were finishing up a complete remodel of a floor in an old historic building in lower downtown Denver. A laborer was removing tape from the sprinkler heads and broke one. Things got very wet very fast including the occupied floor below.

Thanks Kentvw, I'm just trying to seal up the house a little. Sorry about the mishap on your end. I wonder what his nick name is now?
