We are building a 600 ft2 addition to our 1895 farmhouse. The addition will be built over a block foundation crawl space with approx. 3 feet of head clearance. The floor of the space is 1 1/2" of concrete over a 10 mil plastic vapor barrier. Our farmhouse was built with a full basement and the original walls are large cut stone, making it difficult to provide access to the CS from there. I'm looking for ideas to provide weather proof access to the CS from the exterior of the addition. I don't really need the additional space that a full basement option woudl provide. I would also prefer not to install an exterior full basement type steel door. All suggestions are most welcome.
