exterior lights boxes & code

Howdy installing exterior lights . The boxes are in the wall cavity. But i do not know if i need to install water resistant boxes or can i use the plastic interior circular box or a metal box with a gasket with a light fixture? To meet national code.

there are exterior specific boxes , their designed to fit into E-blocks which siding gets notched around.

Howdy, i think your referring to boxes installed outside the wall these are inside the wall cavity. The only exposed part will be the light fixture. Any other information?

So when installing a light fixture on the exterior of a house when the only part that extends outside the wall is the fixture is there any requirement for what type of gang box, lack of a better term, is used inside the wall that the light is attached to?

Octagon boxs are usaully used for light fixture. A good gasket to seal it the house or a good silcon coulk to make it water tight.
