I discovered bed bugs in my one-bedroom apt. a week ago. The apartment is in a 100 year old building in Manhattan. The super has checked all neighboring apartments and none have bed bugs. I have thrown out the bed and cleaned everything according to the exterminator's instructions. I have also moved in with family, thus freeing the space for the exterminator to work as often as necessary. However, we disagree about what to do with my approximately 600 books. I vaccummed each and bagged them but the exterminator wants me to put them in self-storage for a year plus. I'm saddened by the idea and wonder how if they are in plastic bags for about 5-6 weeks, if this will be enough time to kill anything remaining. Do you think it will be? Or do I need to put them a way?
