This Old House is headed back to Brookline, Massachusetts, for the second half of our 40th season. When we first visited the Boston suburb in 1983, we built a new contemporary style house and outfitted it with state-of-the-art solar energy techniques for its time. This season, we’ll be modernizing a split-level mid-century home for homeowners Sunil and Neha and their 2-year-old daughter.
The Silva Brothers will help tackle the updates and additions for this renovation, reimagining the home’s layout and building a garage as well as one other addition. The home provides more space for Sunil and Neha than the Boston condo they called home for the last 5 years. The Brookline Mid-century Modern House has a dark, cramped kitchen that is in need of an update. A few apprentices from our Generation NEXT program will assist the team in updating the entire home to match the beauty of its existing high ceilings and abundance of windows and natural light.
