Net Zero From the Ground Up | The Jamestown Net-Zero House
Coming up on This Old House
Kevin arrives at the project and meets builder Jeff Sweenor.
Jeff’s concerned about the siding shingles, which appear to be an asbestos cement product overlaid on the original cedar shingles. Special precautions must be taken to remove them.
Around the corner, Tommy finds Jeff’s crew starting to dig for the new foundation.
Since precast foundation walls will soon be installed and their height is already established, any adjustments needed to make the walls meet the required height on the house can be done down at the stone base. Kevin visits the manufacturer in Pennsylvania that makes the custom insulated wall panels.
The project house is located in Jamestown, Rhode Island, which is a unique island in the middle of Narragansett Bay. Homeowner Donald gives Kevin an historic tour of the area.
Back at the house, the foundation wall panels arrive and are placed. Adam Campbell supervises a crew that spends only a few house gluing the panels together.
Roger meets with Norm, Richard, Tommy and Kevin and they close the show together.
