Generation NEXT Casting Call 2018
We’re relaunching our nationwide search for apprentices who will work alongside—and learn from—the experts at This Old House.
Interested in working with the This Old House crew on our next project houses? We’d love to have you! We're working to close the skills gap by encouraging young people to master the vocational trades, and there’s no better way to learn than on the job apprenticing with the masters. We’re offering two paid apprenticeship opportunities this year — one on a house in Jamestown, Rhode Island, this spring and another in the Greater Boston area this summer — and will select two apprentices per project. DEADLINE EXTENDED: We’re accepting submissions for the Greater Boston apprenticeship until Sunday, May 6, 2018 at 11:59 PM. Applications for our Jamestown apprenticeship closed on February 23.
To begin the application process, click to “Upload Your Submission” below. You’ll be asked to submit some basic information about yourself, including your trade field of choice and any prior experience you have in the trades. We’ll also ask for a video; this can be an example of you working in your field, but it doesn’t have to be! Most importantly, we’d like to get to know you and why you’re interested in a career in the trades. Take a look at Kevin O'Connor's sample video below:
You can only submit one video link, but be sure to include information about any online presence you have (like social media, a blog, or a YouTube channel) on your résumé. We also accept, but don’t require, letters of recommendation from anyone you’ve worked with in the past, or anyone who can speak to your knowledge or interest in the trades.
To learn more about this opportunity, take a look at the contest rules and other work we’ve done with our Generation NEXT campaign, including Season 39 of This Old House that features our first apprentices. Good luck!
