How to Build a Toy Chest

In this video, learn how to build a toy chest.

Steps:

1. Lay out the pieces of the box on some plywood. Clamp down the wood and cut the pieces out with a jigsaw.
2. Using a random-orbit sander, sand all the parts with 120-grit paper.
3. Glue and nail the bottom part of the box together.
4. Clamp the gable ends on top of the sides, using a scrap block to brace them and hold them upright. Glue and nail the roof onto the gable ends.
5. Screw casters to the bottom of the chest.
6. Paint the barn red with white trim and the roof silver.
7. Screw a piano hinge to the joint between the roof and the back of the base. Then screw on soft-close hinges at both ends of the roof.

Difficulty: Moderate Fitting the parts together takes a little extra patience.
