Making Your Own Extension Cord Caddy

Wrestling with a twisted extension cord can be a frustrating experience. Save your sanity and tame the most obstinate cord with a homemade bucket caddy.

Take a 5-gallon plastic bucket and bore through its side near the bottom with a 2-inch-diameter hole saw. Take the male end of the cord (the one with the three prongs) and feed it through the hole from inside the bucket. Coil up the rest of the cord and put it into the bucket, but leave the female end of the cord hanging out.

The next time you need to use the extension cord, simply set the bucket near an electrical outlet and plug in the cord. Pull out as much cord as you need from the bucket and plug in your tool. When it's time to quit, just gather up the cord and stuff it back into the bucket.
