Unique lattice for Jamestown: Insider Sneak Peek
Builder Jeff Sweenor shows TOH host Kevin O'Connor how a lattice was custom-made for the Net-Zero House
Instead of using traditional lattice beneath the porch of the Jamestown Net-Zero House, homeowner and architect Don Powers came up an idea that would boost curb appeal and be a better fit with the home's overall design. Powers created a pattern of vines and leaves that could be custom cut using a CNC (Computer Numeric Control) machine. It serves the same purpose as lattice, but has a much more unconventional look—and it's only fitting to go custom, since so many elements of the porch, including the posts and railings, were carefully designed just for this house.
