How to use a rabbeting bit: Insider Sneak Peek
TOH general contractor Tom Silva shows Generation NEXT apprentice Carly Comitino how to use a rabbeting bit with a router
Next week's episode of TOH TV might be a rerun, but since you're an Insider, we're bringing you an exclusive clip from an upcoming episode of This Old House.
To create evenly-sized rabbets across the top of a baseboard at the Brookline Mid-century Modern House, general contractor Tom Silva shows Generation NEXT apprentice Carly Comitino how to use a rabbeting bit with a router. The depth of the rabbet can easily be controlled by changing the size of the bearing used with the rabbeting bit. The wider your bearing is, the shallower your rabbet will be. Tommy carefully shows Carly how to use a piece of scrap wood to ensure the router's properly set to give you the cut you need.
