In Walpole, Kevin O’Connor joins the crew as work shifts from planning to execution. Inside the house, he helps open an existing wall so the new primary closet and bath can connect to the addition.
Tom Silva and the crew frame new exterior and interior walls of the garage addition.
Richard Trethewey turns to the new Accessory Dwelling Unit utilities, explaining how water and sewer will tie into the main house before following the plumbing layout for two bathrooms, a kitchen, and laundry. Working from above and below, the plumber uses pilot holes, flags, and a laser to avoid obstructions so that he can place drains accurately.
Outside, the electrical service is rerouted from an old overhead feed at the front of the house to a buried connection at the back of the property, with trenching, conduit bends, warning tape, and separate meters for the house and ADU.
The episode also travels to Atlanta to look at ADUs in design, construction, and finished form, showing how setbacks, size limits, and smart layouts shape small homes.
