Kevin O’Connor returns to the late‑1800s Needham project house as it nears the home stretch. In the new primary suite, Heath Eastman walks through the transformation from an old bedroom and an awkward sink area into a full primary bath and closets, then he teams up with tile installer Mike O’Neil to install electric radiant heat under the tile floor. They carefully space the heat wire so every step from the shower, tub, and vanity lands on warm tile.
Kevin heads to Chatham, Massachusetts, on Cape Cod to visit a small woodworking shop building the home’s custom kitchen cabinets. Owner Michael Berg explains how his team handles design, fabrication, finishing, and installation all in‑house.
Back in Needham, Kevin checks in with Mauro Henrique, who explains that some of the original kitchen cabinets are being reused and repainted in a green‑gray tone to match new units in the new pantry.
In the future dining room, Tom Silva and Charlie Silva focus on the existing bookcases. They box in new ductwork with carefully mitered panels and extend the cases to the ceiling with soffit pieces and molding. The original shelves are simplified and notched around the boxed-in pipes so they slide back in with a cleaner, built‑in look.
