In Asheville, Kevin O’Connor takes a stroll through the historic Biltmore Village and meets with local architect Robert Griffin to learn about the neighborhood’s history and what he thinks the future holds for it.
Meanwhile, Mauro Henrique visits homeowner Paula in East Asheville. Mauro takes Paula step by step through the process of prepping and staining a fiberglass door to replace the one damaged by the flooding. Once they clean the door with denatured alcohol, Mauro teaches Paula how to properly stain the door.
Over in North Asheville, Jenn Nawada meets with landscape architect Jennifer Verprauskus to go over the plans for Matt and Melinda’s front yard. Together, they build the terrace retaining wall, using large boulders to form both the walls and the steps leading up to the front of the property. They start by installing proper drainage so water can flow freely behind and beneath the structure. Then, with the help of machinery, they carefully set each boulder, choosing the right size and shape to fit each section of the wall.
Over in Swannanoa, Kevin meets with project manager Noah Swaty to help install an interior door. Noah, who normally installs the doors by himself, shows Kevin his method for keeping the jamb plumb and square.
