Season 46 of This Old House
Season 46 of This Old House will feature three unique and compelling construction projects.
This season kicks off with the renovation of a 1929 brick cottage home in Nashville, TN. Watch as the home is updated for a young family craving additional living space.
Later, the team heads to Ridgwood, NJ to help restore an 1930s Colonial Revival. After purchasing the home in 2019, the homeowners now plan to transform their dated house with more spaces for living and entertaining, new plumbing and HVAC, and bigger windows to maximize views of the backyard.
The last stop: a 19th-century, historic home in Westford, MA. Tune in to see how this dilapidated, fire-damaged home is brought back to life.
For the Westford project, the team takes on a house with a dramatic backstory. As Kevin O’Connor explains: “Several years ago, it suffered a three-alarm fire which started in the back left corner, took off the entire roof.” The 1893 home was originally built by a Scottish immigrant in the textile trade, and the restoration will bring it back to its original glory — complete with a hip roof, a grand window walk, and a new garage cut right through the existing foundation.
Behind the Scenes: The Ridgewood, NJ project reunites the team with general contractor Zack Dettmore, who credits the collaborative effort for pulling off these ambitious renovations. At the Nashville reveal, Zack shared: “We got an amazing support team of co-workers and trade partners behind us. It’s the way we pull it off.”
The Nashville project lands the team in one of the city’s hottest neighborhoods. As host Kevin O’Connor describes it: “Nashville, Tennessee. Music City, USA… Home to over 2 million diverse residents, it’s one of the fastest-growing metro areas in the country. And one of its hottest neighborhoods, East Nashville, which is just across the river from downtown — its historic homes have attracted a hip, creative crowd.” The renovation focuses on a young family of four looking to transform their 1929 cottage, picking up living space on the second floor — which was previously just an attic used for storage — all while preserving the home’s footprint within the Historic District.
Season 23 of Ask This Old House
Season 23 of Ask This Old House brings back Kevin, Tommy, Richard, Jenn, Mark, Mauro, Heath, Lee, Nathan, and Ross, as they help homeowners tackle their most challenging home improvement projects.
In the Season 23 premiere, Nathan is pulled in two directions — Richard needs his help updating a bathroom for a homeowner who wants to age in place, while Tommy enlists him to replace a wooden gutter. As homeowner Margaret shared with the crew: “I grew up here. My son grew up here. I would like to stay here as long as possible.” It’s the kind of real-life, deeply personal project that has defined Ask This Old House since its debut.
