Inspiring Pride in Hands-on Work

Believing that a four-year college degree is the only way to get ahead, young people are rejecting vocational jobs that require training and craftsmanship. Who will help build our future?

TOH master carpenter Norm Abram joins Mike Rowe, executive producer and host of the TV show Dirty Jobs, to introduce a partnership aimed at bringing young people into the building trades. Together, This Old House and the mikeroweWORKS Foundation are raising awareness for TOH’s Generation Next project, which celebrates work opportunities that require technical and vocational training—and can lead to fulfilling, well-paid careers.
