What You Missed: Live Q&A
Everything you need to know about cold-hardy lemon trees, fussy hydrangeas, and overzealous leaf blowing
Insiders had plenty of questions for Roger Cook and Kevin O’Connor during the Dec. 4 Live Q&A, where the wide-ranging discussion included advice and even a confession.
Roger offered tips for dealing with moles and grubs (insecticide for the grubs, poison-filled fake worms for the moles); discussed mixing clover and grass (Sodco’s Microclover won his praise); revealed the name of a lemon tree that will grow even in cold climates (Meyer lemon tree); sympathized with an Insider who was having trouble with hydrangeas (common culprits include shade, cold temps, and not enough water, but it’s hard to know which one is at fault); and confessed that the zeal for leaf-blowing can drive him crazy (“A few leaves left on the ground can help things grow, it’s organic!”).
