Watch It Again: New Yankee Workshop
Norm tackles a project just in time for Thanksgiving
Fall and winter are good times for taking on woodworking projects, such as the two serving trays that Norm Abram created based on examples he found in a Nantucket, MA, antiques shop (Season 9, Episode 7).
One was a primitive pine tray that can be made with a table saw and joiner; Norm even reused an old pine board from a renovation project as the material. He made the second tray, which is a more formal design, out of cherry with brass corner pieces and handles; he needed more tools for this project, including a table saw, joiner, scroll saw, and router.
A special benefit for Insiders is that this plan, like all the plans for the New Yankee Workshop projects, are available for free. So download them and start building now: Not only are the trays good projects, but they will also come in very handy during the holidays!
