A Smarter Way to Store Holiday Lights
Interrupt your yearly untangling tradition
Instead of winding string lights into a ball or wrestling them back into their packaging, make a storage board from corrugated cardboard (a 6-by-12-inch piece holds 33 feet of lights). Cut a 1-inch slit in the center of each short end, then stagger 1-inch slits along each long side. Slide one plug into the cut on a short end, then wind the cord around the cardboard, securing it in the slits.
